I have always been interested in the body’s ability to heal and repair itself. As a child, I would often barrage my mom with questions after skinning my knee as I wondered how my body could make new skin to replace the damaged area. It’s no surprise that chiropractic seemed like a natural career choice for me. While I was in chiropractic college, acupuncture was offered as an elective. I remember thinking at the time, you mean to tell me you can stick a pin in someone, and they get better? I must check this out. After graduating from Chiropractic college in 1991, I moved to Ohio and began practicing chiropractic, and much to my dismay, their laws did not allow chiropractors to perform acupuncture. It was not until 2010 that the laws changed to allow chiropractors to use acupuncture. The credits I earned in chiropractic college were a little outdated, so I resumed studying acupuncture and obtained a diplomat degree in acupuncture in 2011 from the International Academy of Medical Acupuncture. I practiced for over 25 years using chiropractic and acupuncture to stimulate the body’s innate ability to heal itself naturally.

It was not until I lost my mother to Alzheimer’s disease that I became interested in brain health. My studies began selfishly, as I searched for what I could do to keep my brain as healthy as possible and avoid the fate I watched my mom suffer. That is when I first learned about neurofeedback therapy. It intrigued me because it is a natural means to train the brain into a healthier and balanced pattern. Since that time, I have witnessed neurofeedback therapy improve the quality of so many lives. I’ve seen a little boy who was struggling in school with discipline problems actually become student of the month after neurofeedback training, or a young man who had to drop out of college due to anxiety and depression not only re-enroll but improve his academic standing significantly. Change your brain, change your life!

When I’m not at the office, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Phillip, and our three dogs Peggy Sue, Missy, and Aston. They love taking us for walks or, should I say, pulls! They have us trained very well. Gardening, trying out new recipes, and curling up with a good book are some of my favorite downtime activities.
